Position Summary:

We are seeking a talented PHP developer who not only loves to develop complex web applications, but is equal parts manager and team leader. Our ideal candidate is a creative, goal oriented and driven to create the best applications on the planet.

This role will involve:

• Building high volume, multi-site capable web applications that scale easily and are managed efficiently.
• Making decisions on development resources, managing them and developing yourself with a focus on getting things done efficiently.
• Ongoing evaluation of development resources, both offshore and local, and determining the appropriate road map forward. This is a unique opportunity to build a team around you, using existing resources and planning changes based on ongoing evaluation.
• Being a dynamic individual, with a good eye on new technology with the ability to be flexible and move very fast – make decisions on the fly.

To succeed you:

• Must be a strong PHP developer who is interested in a unique and challenging opportunity to take over existing development projects, and move them forward.
• Must be comfortable evaluating, planning and managing people locally and at a distance
• Have 5+ years of software development

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on PHP with strong web application development experience.
• 5+ years of experience with MySQL, HTML and Javascript.
• 3+ years of experience with XML and Linux.
• Experience with ZEND Framework, Apache, Subversion, GIT and CVS is highly desired.
• Demonstrated ability to work very well under pressure and keep abreast of current technology.
• Excellent project management and multitasking capabilities.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills with little supervision.
• Bachelors Degree or more advanced degree in Computer Science.

• Can I make quick decisions, evaluate others work and plan for the bigger picture?
• Can I do development myself at the drop of that hat and work in tandem with other team members?
• Am I comfortable working alone or with small teams?
• Am I comfortable with pair programming?

Requirements:

• Must be local, in and around the Washington, metro area
• College Degree
• Bachelors in computer science is preferred,
• Be comfortable splitting time and focus, 50/50, between development and management/planning
